What Makes Our Pools Unique
The MCP Difference
Choosing a Midwest Container Pool is more than just adding a pool to your backyard—it’s about embracing cutting-edge design, lasting quality, and a touch of luxury. Here’s what sets these pools apart:
Vacuum Infused Fiberglass Shell-
Building a fiberglass pool shell with vacuum infusion offers key advantages over traditional hand layup in an open mold. Vacuum infusion pulls resin through the fiberglass layers under vacuum pressure, ensuring a uniform distribution with no air pockets. This method increases structural integrity, leading to stronger and more durable pool shells that resist cracks and leaks over time. Additionally, vacuum infusion minimizes resin waste, making it a more environmentally friendly and efficient process that results in a lighter yet sturdier pool shell.
Fully Insulated With Foam-
Fiberglass pool shells need robust support on the back side of the shell to help keep its shape when they are full of water. Inground swimming pools are backfilled with gravel, our pools are supported by high density injection foam pumped into a 2 inch gap between the fiberglass shell and shipping container. This closed cell foam also has a heat flow resistance rating of over 95% so we can literally say our pools are among the most efficient pools in existence.
Simplicity-
At Midwest Container Pools, we believe in keeping pool equipment simple and reliable for a smooth, hassle-free experience. While many competitors add layers of automation and electrical control, this complexity can lead to frequent downtime, costly repairs, and frustrating maintenance issues. By focusing on straightforward, high-quality equipment, we aim to give pool owners peace of mind, reducing potential headaches and making it easy to enjoy a refreshing swim without complicated controls or unexpected system failures.
Same Day Swimming-
Your pool experience is almost instant. When your container pool arrives, it’s ready to go—just fill it up, and you can be swimming that very same day! We design our pools to be true plug-and-play solutions, eliminating the need for extensive setup or complicated installations. It’s a seamless, straightforward process so you can start enjoying your pool immediately without delay.
What Makes our Shipping Container Swimming Pools Great
Vacuum-infused fiberglass shells are superior to open mold construction for several reasons. First, they achieve a stronger, more consistent bond between the fiberglass layers and resin, reducing air pockets and enhancing durability. This process also produces a smoother, more aesthetically pleasing finish that requires less maintenance. Additionally, vacuum infusion uses less resin, making it more environmentally friendly. The result is a lightweight, long-lasting pool shell that can withstand wear and tear better than those made using traditional open mold methods.

Our fiberglass container pools are designed for easy cleaning and maintenance, making pool ownership a breeze. With oversized filters that circulate the entire pool volume every two hours, you can trust that your water stays crystal clear and free of debris. Our fully insulated pools are designed for energy efficiency and rapid heating, allowing the pool to warm up quickly and retain heat longer. The insulation reduces heat loss, so the water maintains a comfortable temperature even in cooler weather. We offer both gas and electric heater options to suit your needs: gas heaters provide rapid heat-ups for instant comfort, while electric heaters offer consistent and efficient heating. With these options, you’ll be able to enjoy warm water whenever you want with minimized energy costs.
At Midwest Container Pools, we maintain low overhead by manufacturing every component of our container swimming pools in-house. This all-in-one approach allows us to oversee quality and production closely while reducing the costs associated with outsourcing. By eliminating third-party suppliers, we streamline production and pass those savings directly to our customers. This gives us a competitive edge in the pricing market, allowing us to offer high-quality container pools at a lower cost compared to companies that rely on multiple vendors.
Insulated container pools from Midwest Container Pools are excellent additions for short-term rental properties because they offer guests a comfortable, luxurious swim experience in any season. The insulation helps maintain optimal water temperature with minimal heating or cooling, enhancing the pool’s energy efficiency and reducing operating costs. 5 ways Midwest Container Pools
raises the bar:
Deeper-
Our container pools have a max depth of 57" when filled completely. Other container pool builders only build pools that are 48" because they cut each container in half in order to use the top and bottom each to build a pool in. Since container pools are already compact we decided to maximize a safe depth for adult fun also
Stronger-
We only build a pool with the lower half of a container. The bottom of a shipping container has a robust steel structure that gives a container it's strength. We also weld heavy, 3/8 wall steel tubing around the top edge of the pool to stabilize the walls to ensure our pools are among the strongest in the market.
While we are not the only company building container pools with fiberglass shells, we still do them better. We use vacuum infusion with layers of woven mat fiberglass in a system that would be overkill on any sized large inground pool. Others use a hand layup method with chopped strand in an open mold, while cheaper to produce, they retain a fraction of the strength.
Truly Insulated-
We use a high density injection foam to fill the 2" void between the pool shell and container. This stabilizes the shell, minimizes any voids, and also creates a seamless layer of insulation that is over 93% efficient at stopping heat transfer. Our pools can withstand the harshest climates in the US with ease, they can even be easily heater to hot tub levels during the winter.
Multi Layer Paint-
The otside of the container is still metal and suceptable to rust due to the water being treated with chlorine or salt. To maximize the life out of every pool we first spray over the factory powder coat finish with two layers of epoxy primer then one layer of urethane color coat.

Container swimming pools are an eco-friendly choice, as they repurpose sturdy, decommissioned shipping containers into a durable pool structure, reducing waste and conserving resources. This sustainable foundation is made even greener with Midwest Container Pools' optional full solar packages, designed to power pool heating, filtration, and lighting with clean energy. By integrating solar systems, we transform our container pools into fully self-sustainable units, minimizing environmental impact and allowing pool owners to enjoy a luxurious experience that aligns with sustainable, low-impact living.
Our container pools can be designed to function completely off-grid with optional solar packages that power both pumps and heaters. Equipped with solar-powered circulation pumps, filtration systems, and heaters, these pools operate independently of traditional power sources, offering a sustainable solution for remote areas or eco-conscious property owners. The solar heaters ensure that water stays at a comfortable temperature year-round, while solar filtration keeps the pool pristine with zero reliance on grid electricity. This off-grid capability not only lowers energy costs but also minimizes the pool’s environmental footprint, creating a truly self-sustaining, eco-friendly oasis.
Our pools are designed to be some of the easiest to maintain in the industry, thanks to their efficient design and advanced materials. With a smaller water volume, our pools require less chemical treatment and fewer cleaning resources. The oversized filtration systems circulate and purify the entire pool volume more frequently, ensuring consistently clear water with minimal effort. Additionally, our smooth fiberglass surfaces resist algae growth and make brushing and cleaning easy, reducing maintenance time and effort for pool owners while ensuring a sparkling, pristine pool.
Our container pools offer an exceptionally fast installation process, with minimal site preparation required. Once the pool is shipped to your location, it’s simply set in place and ready to fill—often within the same day. This straightforward approach means there’s no need for extensive excavation or prolonged construction, significantly reducing the labor and equipment costs associated with installation. The result is a quicker, more affordable pool project, letting you enjoy a high-quality pool experience with less time and expense from start to finish.
Thinking of relocating? No problem. Our container pools are fully portable and relocatable, allowing you to take your investment with you wherever you go. Whether you’re upgrading homes or adding a pool to an Airbnb rental, Midwest Container Pools deliver flexibility that traditional pools simply can’t match.
The process of building a mold for a fiberglass pool begins with careful design, where the desired pool shape and dimensions are created using CAD software. Next, a plug is constructed, often from materials like foam or wood, which serves as the prototype for the final product. This plug is then meticulously surfaced to achieve a mirror finish, ensuring a smooth, flawless surface for the mold. Finally, the mold is built around the polished plug using fiberglass and resin, creating a durable form that captures the intricate details of the design, ready for the fiberglass shell to be laid.
Shipping container swimming pools can be installed in literally any location, even in areas that would be impossible for traditional pools. Since they are supported in their own structure, they can be backfilled against like a retaining wall, set on legs over a hill, placed against a deck, or just sitting in a yard with built in stairs.
Our above ground pools can be stand alone pools with built in access stairs so you don't have to build a deck or use a ladder to enter the pool. This makes it possible to set the pool in any location quickly and easily. We can also delete the exterior stairs if you are planning a deck build or setting the pool next to an existing deck
Since container pools are built inside such a strong structure, they can be set into hillsides where traditional pools would require extensive excavation or retaining walls. By digging one side of the container so it is flush with the hill, leaving the other side above ground you have a unique pool setting that only a container pool can achieve!
Sandy soil, or high water tables are an issue for some homeowners wanting an in ground pool. A container pool can be set completely inground in these areas and limit the headaches while while saving money on the entire project and timeline. For customers wanting a smaller in ground pool we can also outfit our fiberglass shells to be installed like a regular pool without the container
One truly unique way a container pool can be installed is elevated off the ground with steel framing or legs. This makes it possible to have a pool extended over a steep hill, or matching the deck height of a home built on the coast that has to be elevated do to flooding. We can aid in the engineering process to design the proper structure to carry the pool and wow visitors and neighbors.
Your container pool will be shipped with all the plumbing complete, pump system installed, and ready for a quick install. There are some things you need to plan for at the pool location before the pool arrives to ensure you are swimming the day it's delivered.
You will need a firm base for your pool to sit on that won't settle. The soil type and region may affect this process but the base can range from a gravel pad to concrete footings or a full concrete slab. We can give your local contractor the info needed to determine what base will be best for your specific pool location
When the pool arrives at your location, it will be on a rollback tow truck that can self unload. If there is room for the truck to back up to the pad then they will set the pool off in place and the job is done! If this isn't possible then the need for additional equipment may be necessary. This can range from a uniloader or off road forklift to even a crane service depending on the jobsite conditions
We place GFCI boxes inside the pump area for the equipment to plug into. You just need an electrician to run a 110v 20 amp line from the breaker to the plug in. Some options require additional power and service lines, but we set everything up so it is quick and easy to connect power to. Now you are ready to fill the pool and turn it on!

Midwest Container Pools is proud to be the only company using high-density injection foam to secure our fiberglass shells. This innovative approach not only enhances the structural integrity of our pools but also improves insulation, ensuring greater energy efficiency and durability. By employing this cutting-edge technology, we set ourselves apart in the industry, delivering pools that are built to last and perform at the highest standards.
A shipping container pool with a fiberglass shell can last 25 years or more with proper maintenance. The fiberglass offers excellent durability and resistance to corrosion, ensuring a long lifespan. Regular upkeep, such as cleaning and monitoring water chemistry, will help maximize the pool's longevity. This combination of materials and maintenance practices makes our container pools a reliable investment for years of enjoyment.
Maintaining a container pool holding 4,000 gallons in a warm climate can cost around $1,200 to $2,500 annually. This includes expenses for water, chemicals, electricity for filtration and heating, and routine maintenance. Factors such as pool usage, local utility rates, and specific maintenance practices can influence these costs. Regular upkeep ensures optimal performance and longevity, providing you with a great swimming experience year-round.
Yes, shipping container pools can be moved from one location to another without harming them, provided the relocation is done carefully. It's important to drain the pool and ensure it’s properly supported during transport to avoid structural damage. With the right equipment and handling, you can successfully relocate your container pool while maintaining its integrity. Always consult with professionals experienced in moving container structures for the best results.
Yes, a well-insulated shipping container pool can be heated in the winter. With effective insulation, the pool can maintain comfortable water temperatures, typically ranging from 78°F to 86°F (25°C to 30°C). The exact achievable temperature depends on the heating system used, outdoor temperatures, and the pool's insulation quality. Investing in a quality heating system along with proper insulation ensures you can enjoy your pool year-round, even in colder climates.
Our container pools can be saltwater pools thanks to their fiberglass shells, which are resistant to corrosion and rust. In contrast, steel container pools are not suitable for saltwater because the salt can cause the metal to rust over time, compromising the pool's integrity. This makes our fiberglass container pools a superior choice for those who prefer the benefits of saltwater, such as gentler water on the skin and easier maintenance.
